LEarning + Pedagogy

Case Studies

Presentations create awareness. Habits create change.

What's the difference between an event that's there one day and gone the next, and an experience that delivers genuine transformation?

There are a number of key factors: motivation, relevance, authenticity, trust, and engagement. Interaction is key, learning by doing, making connections, discovering new ideas. But for learning to genuinely work, for it to go deep, it has to be designed (pedagogy) and it has to empower the individual (heutagogy).

So every experience we create, from a workshop for 8 people to a keynote for 500, is designed to deliver deeper, smarter, happier learning.

What does this look like in practice?

Let’s dig a little deeper into some recent work.

Si Beales

Speaker, Academic, Troublemaker (in a good way)

I'm an award-winning speaker, educator, academic, writer, and entrepreneur, and the founder of Sidedoor Studio.
I specialise in habit-based learning, helping people reconnect with the human skills that matter most in a fast-changing world, learning smarter, and working happier.

I blend 20+ years in industry and academia, high-energy teaching and facilitation, and a deep research background in human skills, habit-based learning and upskilling, with a fresh, irreverent style that cuts through the usual corporate noise.

Through my industry and academic experience, I apply pedagogy (learning design) and heutagogy (self-empowered learning) to simple models, interactivity and visual storytelling.

I'm also a senior academic at Leeds School of Art & Design, where my research area is heutagogy, and I've written for The Guardian, The Times, Vogue and Psychologies, as well as being a regular contributor to the BBC.

I've delivered talks, workshops and learning experiences for some amazing organisations across the UK and globally, including Nike, Adidas, Carlsberg, Boots, E.ON, Central Saint Martins, The Law Society, Creative Conscience and many more.

Whether it's a keynote on the future of learning, a workshop on creativity or curiosity, or a full training programme to level-up human skills, I bring energy, clarity, humour and practical tools people actually use.
